Judo Club

Comberton Judo Club was founded in 1985and is sessions are now held  in the Climbing Wall room in the Comberton Leisure next to Comberton Village College.

Classes at the comberton dojo look like this:

Wednesday – 6.15pm-7.45pm

Children’s advanced technical class and Randori. Children who are suitable for this class have already been told, if you’re a visitor an think this class might be for you then please email us. This session costs just £2 as it is supported by Performance Pathway funding.

Wednesday 7pm-9.30pm

Regional Randori, this session is an open class and is for 12yo who are graded orange and above. This session costs just £2 as it is supported by Performance Pathway funding.

Thursday 6pm-7pm

U8 technical class – this is suitable for all under 8’s including beginners. There maybe be some slightly older children in this class as we base which session a child should do on their development and not their age. This session costs just £4.

Thursday 7pm-8pm

8-12yo technical class – this is suitable for anyone between the ages of 8-12yo including beginners. There maybe be some younger or older children in this class as we base which session a child should do on their development and not their age. This session costs just £4.

Thursday 8pm-930pm

Senior technical session – suitable for all adults including beginners. This class has a large variety of grades, ages and abilities. This session costs just £4.

We have a permanent mat area of 10 x 18m, this is currently the only permanent dojo in Cambridgeshire.

Coaches

The clubs head coach is Darren Challis, who is a BritishJudo Association registered level 3 coach and and EJU level 5 high performance coach. He was the assistant coach to Team England during the 2002 Commonwealth games.

As of May 2017 Comberton JC has a large number of coaches, most of whom coach for free. We pride ourselves in providing a high quality sporting environment, continuous professional development for our coaches and a variety of judo experiences for our members. Comberton JC has 10 coaches ranging from EJU level 5 to BJA level 1, within our coaching team we have 8 sports related degrees and another two pending.

Want to train with us?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete beginner or a performance athlete, whether you’re 4yo or 94yo, if you want to be involved in judo we’re the club for you! Your first judo lesson is free, after that it is just £4 per session.
