SOUTH CAMBRIDGESHIRE BURGLARY UPDATES

Last week saw the burglary team basing themselves in South Cambs ahead of the burglary day of action.The Burglary Squad have arrested 13 suspects this week linked to over 30 separate burglaries and recovered over 700 individual items of jewellery.

    • Two arrested from a burglary on Histon Road ten minutes after Officers viewed CCTV footage.

The Burglary Day of action of all suspects that were arrested that day; two were responsible for offences in South Cambridge.

  • One male arrested early hours at his home address for a number of business burglaries and another male detained in the city centre for various offences.
  • Nine suspects arrested in Wellingborough by the Cambridge Burglary Squad after a lengthy investigation. Tens of thousands of pounds of items recovered, three vehicles seized and the suspects remanded for sentencing. The process of returning the property to our victims has begun.

A media campaign will begin shortly to showcase jewellery and items recovered to identify owners. The nine suspects are believed to have committed an extensive list of dwelling burglaries across four counties.

Despite the excellent work of the Burglary team we have sadly still seen some more South Cambs burglaries this week.

Burglars are taking advantage of the longer evenings and the tell-tale signs that there is nobody home – no lights on, no cars in the driveway etc.


Take action now – leave a porch/hall light on, put a timer switch in a downstairs room for afternoons/evenings and one set later in a bedroom.
